FDA Approves New mRNA Monovalent COVID Booster Shots, But Pfizer Only Tested Mice

“According to Johns Hopkins University,  FDA officials have shied away from calling the latest mRNA shots “boosters.” The change in nomenclature reflects a collective approach to treating COVID similar to influenza, where everyone is encouraged to get an “annual flu shot” and now also get an annual “COVID shot” at the same time. Using the words “updated COVID vaccine” rather than “COVID booster” also emphasizes that recipients of the minimally-tested new shots aren’t just boosting existing immunity from the same previous shots, but rather a completely new immune response—from a completely new medical product—to the newly-circulating variants.”

‘Preposterous’: FDA, CDC Authorize New COVID Boosters for Kids as Young as 5 — With No Data, No Independent Review

“The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday amended the Emergency Use Authorizations (EUAs) for the new Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 Omicron booster shots for children as young as 5 years old — despite having no direct data on the safety or effectiveness of the shots in children.”

“Setty said that “despite the CDC’s strong support of these boosters it would be safe to say at this point that they don’t provide the added protection against BA.4 and BA.5 as claimed.”

He added: “Having no results in humans to counter these findings, the CDC is now in an embarrassing position. They had no justification in authorizing these boosters without any human trials.'”
